Bayern Munich sacks Nagelsmann and hires Tuchel
German football giants Bayern Munich has parted ways with head coach Julian Nagelsmann and is set to hire Thomas Tuchel as the new head coach, according to sources. Tuchel has reportedly signed a contract until 2025 with Bayern Munich. He replaces Julian Nagelsmann who was hired as Bayern Munich’s manager just last year after leading RB Leipzig. Nagelsmann was instrumental in leading the team to a 10th Bundesliga title last season but the current season has not been as successful
Trouble for Bayern in domestic competitions
Bayern Munich struggled this season in the domestic league, trailing in the Bundesliga standings, and was forcefully displaced from their unbeaten home record by rivals Eintracht Frankfurt after a 2-1 defeat in February. The latest loss to Leverkusen last weekend, which puts them only four points ahead of third-place Union Berlin and one point behind Dortmund, probably served as the final blow, leading to the replacement of the head coach.
Tuchel's previous experience
Tuchel managed Paris Saint Germain (PSG) before he was hired to lead Chelsea to Champions League victory. Bayern Munich will be hoping to replicate that same success with Tuchel in the dugout as they face Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals in April
